Last week was so busy!
Not only did I do a turnaround trip to see my god-son in Fresno, but I also stopped by the Can't Stop, Won't Stop Event at the California African American Museum last Wednesday. The event was a really cool way to kick off the showing of a few Los Angeles art collections with great DJ's and yummy food trucks.
What was really fulfilling was being apart of Afromation this Saturday. My wonderful, talented and loving friend Kayla Salisbury started a collaboration with her sweet friend Charmaine called Afroverse; to bring pride, appreciation and joy through community events.
Their first event was a major success. Afromation was a free arts and crafts fair to celebrate black children and encourage creativity and affirm their magic; held at Century Community Charter School in Inglewood, CA.
It was a blessing to be able to help out and witness the smiles these women worked so hard to bring to these little girls and boys faces. Face painting, free books, bracelet and flower crown making, coloring, personalized t-shirts and painting. Encouraging to see parents enjoy themselves and have local black women come out to be vendors.
Check out @Afroverse for future events! They do it for the young queens.
